We are many
Sery of paintings
Behind our superficial "me", there are many more selves that we do live or not. My paintings aim at giving these multiple "me" a visible existence, these very selves we may all have, but not live, even not accept.
This painting are tribute to Pablo Neruda's poem:
We Are Many
Of the many men whom I am, whom we are,
I cannot settle on a single one.
They are lost to me under the cover of clothing
They have departed for another city.
Pablo Neruda
Technically, I focus on using unstable materials, so that compositions get unique and impossible to reproduce, reflect of one instant's subtle equilibrium. This is why I favour watercolour or ink. In particular, with the use of colour pigments, a unique and fragile being appears, one that can never meet any replica. The results are beings that are both present and absent. The focus is in their eyes, the way they look at us without presence.
